I’ve wanted to touch on this topic for some time now. Black lives matter when it comes to police brutality, and black lives matter when it comes to WOMENS health. According to statistics, black women are 2-3 times more likely to have fibroids and to develop them at younger ages. The rate of hospitalization for fibroids is three times higher for black women than white women. Many women believe that heavy, painful periods are just a part of life. As a result, we suffer instead of getting an accurate idea of what normal really is.

The key to healing your fibroids naturally is restoring your overall health wherever there is an imbalance. Your diet, lifestyle, and vitamin intake are important for restoring balance. Women with uterine fibroids often have estrogen dominance. Detoxing your liver can help improve your fibroids because poor liver function is often seen as the root cause of fibroids. Poor liver function can result in toxin build up in the body as well as poor hormone clearance which results in an imbalance of hormones. The best herbs that help to detox your liver is dandelion, burdock, beet root, and turmeric root. These herbs not only help with detoxing, but they are high in iron, magnesium, and calcium, which can help address anemia and prevent excessive blood loss. This is one of the many reasons why I love beets! The alkaline nature of beetroot helps to balance the acidity in the system and reduce the symptoms of ovarian cyst.

Another surprising fact- low vitamin D levels are associated with fibroids. According to the USA fibroid center, 85% of women diagnosed with fibroids had a significant vitamin D deficiency compared to women who have not been diagnosed with fibroids (general population). Another study found that African-American women were in the group of women who had the lowest vitamin D levels when compared to other racial groups of women.

To sum things up, we must restore our health from the inside out and create balance from within. You can start by maintaining a healthy diet high in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes, and healthy fats such as fish. Cutting back on alcohol, getting enough vitamin D, maintaining a healthy balance of estrogen, and consuming fresh and dried herbs that help with detoxing, are the best natural remedies for healing your fibroids!!
